'ILMATAR' is a companion piece to 'YNGFRID', presenting cold and haunting stories of the titular character's grief and change, set within the same world. Like with its parent album, the setting is defined by Old Norse and Finnish lyrics.

As a departure from Ardent's established sound, 'ILMATAR' is released under the moniker of Saaga, as a separate musical entity.

'ILMATAR’ was written and recorded between October and December 2019.
